How does it all work?

We start off by taking a series of photographs ( usually 5 for one 360 photo ) with a digital camera and a fisheye lens mounted on a tripod.

These photos are then processed, optimised away from site and then "stitched together" using a panoramic stitching program. This then produces one panoramic image, similar to the one at the top of this page.

To view more than one image as a virtual tour, another software program is used that allows us to build in links from one view to another, scene descriptions and features such as floor plans and even voice commentary.

In order for the image to be viewed via your computer's web browser, a small program called JAVA must be installed and enabled on your computer. Most computers have this already installed but if not, it can be downloaded in only a few minutes.

One of the consequences of this type of photography is that the picture, when stitched together, will show the tripod at the bottom of the image ( Figure 1)
As part of the standard cost we add a "tripod cap" as illustrated in Figure 2 below. If you prefer we can remove evidence of the tripod using an image editing program as shown in Figure 3.
